In May of 2016 I decided to stretch out and took a course to become certified as a SongShine instructor. The course is designed to help those whose speech has been affected by Parkinson’s, stroke, other neurological disorders or an aging voice gain vocal power and strength. I started teaching in the Fall of 2016 and have been running courses ever since. I returned for an intensive three-day SongShine workshop in Palm Desert in November of 2017. Ruthanna Metzgar and Peter Harris were again totally inspiring.
The course offers:
- vocal exercises and group singing to strengthen voices
- body awareness, relaxation and breathing techniques
- drama-based activities to spark imagination and encourage emotional expression

Check out this great article on SongShine that ran in the North Shore News, Sunday, May 7th, 2017.
